Lake June In Winter, once known as Lake Stearns, is located in Highlands County, Florida. It is just north of Lake Placid. Much of its shoreline is accessible to the public.

Along the western shoreline of the lake sits the Lake June In Winter Scrub State Park. The park covers 845 acres of land bordering the lake. The park offers ample recreational opportunities for the public. Bird watching and wildlife viewing are enjoyed by many at the park. Some wildlife that can be viewed in the park includes the Florida scrub-jay, Florida scrub lizard, Florida mouse, gopher tortoise, Eastern indigo snake, ospreys, bald eagles, the occasional white-tailed deer, bobcat, and black bear. Visitors can also enjoying walking and hiking trails, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. There is also a picnic area with a shelter and tables.
